Don’t forget to recycle! If you’re one of those people (like me)  that puts out their recycling bin every week and makes a conscious effort to recycle when out and about, you’re helping to change the world in a big way. We’re wasting less and recycling more, and raising new generations of green-savvy consumers.

  • Recycling a soda can saves 96% of the energy used to make a can from ore and produces 95% less air pollution and 97% less water pollution.
  • Landfill numbers have been going down as recycling rates increase: in 1978, there were 14,000 in the US. By 2006, only 1,754 were in use.
  • Recycling one ton of newspaper saves 15 trees.
  • 1 gallon of oil, when reprocessed, can generate enough energy to meet the electricity needs of a home for half a day.
